In India, police have arrested 38-year-old crypto trader Rajkumar Rajbar, who had been on the run for 18 months. The man, who was facing life in prison for murder, faked his own death using an AI-generated photo and the cremation of a goat.

According to the investigation, Rajkumar Rajbar, together with an accomplice, was accused of murdering a man in 2016. When the trial was coming to an end and the prosecution presented all the evidence, the suspect realized that he was facing a life sentence.
Rajbar, who was involved in cryptocurrency trading, was helped to devise an escape plan by two of his doctor investors. They hoped that after avoiding punishment, the trader would be able to continue trading and return their invested funds.
To carry out the plan, the man was first taken to the hospital under the guise of being unconscious. He was then placed on a funeral pyre and a photograph was taken, which was later edited using artificial intelligence tools to simulate the real cremation process. After creating the photographic evidence, Rajbar himself left the scene, and a goat was placed on the pyre and burned in his place.
Based on fake photos, the attacker managed to officially obtain a death certificate in the Gazipur district and successfully impersonate the deceased for a year and a half.
The scheme was exposed after police and surveillance units located the suspect. A new criminal case has now been opened against Rajbar for forgery of documents.
