Instagram is launching a new feature that allows creators to combine multiple reels into a single series, making it easier for users to navigate and increase viewing time.
According to TechCrunch, the new feature allows you to organize reels into logical collections. If an author publishes a story in several parts or makes a thematic video cycle, now viewers won’t have to search for the next episodes because they will be connected to each other.
The feature works when adding a caption to a new video or via the menu in already published reels. After creating a series, a button appears in the lower left corner that leads to the next video. This greatly simplifies the process of following content and helps creators keep their audience engaged for longer.
Meta notes that this feature has been one of the most popular requests from creators. Bloggers and influencers often post videos with the instruction «come back for part 2,» and now they can build complete series instead. In addition to multi-part stories, the option can also be used to group similar videos, such as cooking or educational projects.
Instagram continues to actively copy TikTok’s successful solutions, which have long had the ability to group videos into playlists. For Meta, this is another step in the fight for user attention and a way to turn casual viewers into subscribers. Although the change does not look revolutionary, it can affect the usability of the platform and increase average viewing time, and therefore advertising revenue.
As a reminder, dev.ua also published an article about how Instagram is developing a new feature that will help users find common interests with friends. The feature, called Picks, is in the internal testing stage and is not yet available to a wide audience.
