As TechCrunch reports, Meta has confirmed that it is working on a new repost feature for Instagram. Some users have already noticed a new «Reposts» tab or button in the app, indicating that it has begun public testing.
This means that posts can be shared not only through Stories or direct messages, as is the case now, but directly in the main Instagram feed, while retaining the original author and caption. The company aims to give users a convenient way to share interesting content and reduce the need for third-party applications like the Repost App.
The functionality includes the ability to not only repost other people’s posts, but also republish your own. For example, to emphasize certain content that has lost relevance but has become interesting again. It will also allow authors to periodically remind about important posts or reinforce campaigns related to products, events or info drives.
The company has not yet announced which countries are testing it or when the feature will be available to all users. Meta usually rolls out new features gradually, collecting feedback and adapting the product to audience behavior.
