Nearly 1 million people suffered financial losses totaling $3.8 billion after purchasing the $TRUMP memecoin issued by US President Donald Trump, according to an analysis by cryptocurrency analytics firm Nansen.
As TechCrunch reports, citing analysts, the study is based on transactions that are publicly available on the blockchain. As of the end of June 2026, 988,905 accounts, or about two-thirds of the total number of buyers of this token, were unprofitable.
The $TRUMP memecoin rate is $1.69, which is almost 98% below its historical maximum, which reached $75.35 at its peak.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump himself has made a significant profit from his own crypto project. According to a recently released financial statement, the US president received $636 million in revenue from the sale of the meme coin $TRUMP. This amount is almost half of the total $1.4 billion that Trump earned from the crypto industry last year.
Recall, Donald Trump announced the release of his own memecoin three days before his inauguration in 2025. Previously, he and his sons also launched the crypto startup World Liberty Financial, but the value of its token $WLFI has also shown a significant decline. During the current US administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) softened its policy: the regulator stated that it would not consider memecoins to be securities, and withdrew a number of lawsuits against crypto companies.
Last year, even Donald Trump’s pastor launched his own meme coin — Reverend Lorenzo Sewell announced the launch of his own crypto token called $Lorenzo. In less than a day, the token fell 93% from its peak market value of $4.5 million.
Trump’s pastor launched his own meme coin hours after delivering his blessing at the president’s inauguration. The coin’s value fell almost 100% a day later
