The information technology sector ranked fourth among the most popular industries for foreign capital. IT accounted for 6.3% of all newly created businesses during this period (45 companies).
In terms of the number of new companies, the IT sector is surpassed only by wholesale trade, which accounts for 167 businesses or 24% of the total, real estate transactions and construction, where 57 (8%) and 54 (8%) companies are registered, respectively.
Who and where opens a business in Ukraine
In total, citizens from 65 countries were recorded among the founders of new enterprises:
China topped the ranking for the first time, overtaking Turkey: Chinese citizens opened 114 companies (16% of the total), which is almost three times more than in the same period in 2025 (41 companies).
Turkey came in second with 98 companies (14%), although their number decreased by 6% compared to last year.
USA — 62 companies (9%).
Germany — 44 companies (6%).
Azerbaijan — 35 companies (5%).
Geographically, half of all newly registered businesses are concentrated in the capital — 360 such businesses appeared in Kyiv. The top 5 regions also included Odessa (110 companies, 16%), Lviv (78 companies, 11%), Kyiv (22 companies, 3%), and Khmelnytskyi (20 companies, 3%).
Only one of the 709 new businesses had an owner from an offshore zone at the time of registration: the beneficiaries of the company "NH Development" initially included a person from the Seychelles. However, later the composition of the owners changed, and now they list beneficiaries from Latvia.
Recall that as of March, almost 3,000 companies with foreign owners were registered in Ukraine, 5.9% of which operate in the IT sector.
