The average cost of tuition at Ukrainian universities increased from UAH 20,532 in 2022 to UAH 26,629 in 2024. IT is among the specialties where the price increased the fastest.
According to the analysis of Education.ua , the top ten specialties that have increased in price the most during 2022-2024 are headed by "Theology", followed by IT specialties.
If we talk about the top ten most expensive specialties at prices in 2024 , it is headed by "Dentistry" (44,608 UAH). From the IT sphere, only the specialty "Systems Analysis" entered this top, taking 10th position (36,947 UAH).
Tuition fees are increasing every year, but the Ministry of Education wants to shock students' parents even more.
Recently, the Deputy Minister of Education noted in an interview that the Ministry of Education wants to encourage state universities to raise contract prices for a number of popular specialties to at least UAH 50,000 per year. He said that the cost of training contract workers should correspond to the state's expenses for budget education, which is approximately UAH 55,000–56,000 per year. In particular, an increase in the cost of IT specialties is expected.
Recall that in 2024, three IT specialties entered the top ten most popular among applicants: "Computer Science", "Software Engineering", and "Cybersecurity and Information Protection".
EPAM Ukraine analyzed the education level of over 10,000 IT specialists of the company: 65% of EPAMers have a master's degree, most of them are graduates of 10 Ukrainian universities
IT education in Ukrainian universities raises an important point about how quickly curricula need to adapt to real-world industry demands. Strong theoretical foundations matter, but students often benefit most when academic learning is complemented by practical guidance and skill-focused support.
In many countries, learners bridge this gap through subject-focused tutoring and mentorship alongside formal education — similar to how platforms like https://www.tuition.pk/subjectwise-tutors/
connect students with specialized help. Blending university programs with flexible, skill-oriented learning models could make IT graduates more confident and job-ready in a fast-changing tech landscape.
