The anonymous hacker group CikLeak announced the successful hacking of the internal infrastructure of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation, as well as its key contractors - Rostelecom, Tsifrotech, and other organizations involved in the development of the state automated system of the State Administrative Service "Elections" 2.0.
According to the hackers, they managed to download secret documents, server configurations, passwords, and internal developer chats. All the obtained materials have already been transferred to journalists for further analysis.
CikLeak emphasized that their goal is not to interfere in the voting process, but to shed light on the mechanisms of fraud: "We do not interfere in the work of election commissions and the voting process, but help shed light on how it is organized from the inside. We want Russian citizens to learn more about how the authorities can falsify elections."
According to the group's public statement, the remote electronic voting (DEG) system was particularly targeted. The hackers called it completely opaque and designed to facilitate vote theft.
In view of this, hackers appealed to Russian voters to ignore electronic voting.
CikLeak addressed a separate appeal to members of the election commissions, urging them not to participate in fraud and not to help the current regime continue the war. The hackers emphasized that they possess the personal data of the election organizers.
