Before the call, Huang and the speakers discussed Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s call to slow down the pace of AI advancements. This position has previously been publicly agreed with by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. However, Nvidia’s CEO expressed a different opinion, which was also supported by the US president.
During the conversation, Trump said that calls for technological containment play into the hands of those who oppose US progress, including China or individual politicians. “You’re right. We will not allow that to happen, sir,” Huang replied to applause from the audience.
The US President emphasized that the country must maintain leadership in the field of AI, and considers rumors surrounding infrastructure development to be exaggerated.
Earlier, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale publicly rejected warnings that advanced AI systems could cause mass extinction or take control of society, urging industry leaders to stop spreading panic.
