The SBU and cyber police conducted a large-scale special operation in Kyiv, Rivne, and Cherkasy, detaining a hacker group. The criminals created a fake app called "Reserve+" to help tax evaders.
The investigation found that the fake app was a visually exact copy of the official Ministry of Defense service. The attackers paid 1,200 hryvnias per month for its use.
At the office of the "Reserve+" clone, users themselves made the necessary changes to their data and added a "deferral." Later, they presented these fake electronic documents to the CEC and National Police officers.
Law enforcement officers found out that more than 4,000 people who wanted to avoid mobilization managed to log into the fake application.
Law enforcement officers searched the group members: they seized equipment, phones, and cards with evidence of fraud. The fake app itself was promptly blocked.
Two organizers have already been charged with obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and forgery of documents (Part 1 of Article 114-1 and Part 3 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
An investigation is underway to bring all members of the criminal group to justice. The perpetrators face up to 8 years in prison.
