Apple has opened applications for the Swift Student Challenge 2025 competition for student developers

The Apple 2025 Swift Student Challenge has launched, which means students from around the world can showcase their programming skills and creativity by developing app concepts using Swift Playground or Xcode.

Apple hosts the Swift Student Challenge every year. In past years, it was held during the Worldwide Developers Conference, but in 2024, Apple began holding it earlier in the year. Students are tasked with creating an app concept, and Apple provides Develop in Swift tutorials to help students learn the basics of coding.

Apple plans to select 350 winners based on «innovation, creativity, social impact, or inclusivity.» 50 winners will be invited to spend three days at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, this summer. The trip is expected to coincide with the 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference.

You can apply for participation in the Swift Student Challenge 2025 until February 23.

The Challenge is free to enter — you just need access to an iPad or Mac with Swift Playground or Xcode.
The best app ideas are personal — let your passion shine through your work.
No formal coding experience required — the Challenge is open to students of all levels.
Your app playground doesn’t need to be intricate — it should be experienced within 3 minutes or less.
