The domestic company Octava Defence, founded by IT businessman Alexander Kardakov, has introduced an updated version of the FLYCAT loitering munition, as well as its long-range modification FLYCAT SL with a flight range of over 200 km.
According to "Military", a new version of the UAV was presented at the international defense exhibition MSPO 2026 in Poland.
According to a company representative, the improved version of FLYCAT has already been put into use in July-August and is undergoing the codification procedure, while FLYCAT SL is in the testing phase.
FLYCAT is designed to take into account the possibility of using enemy electronic warfare (EW) equipment, the UAV can also operate in the absence of a reliable GNSS signal.
The flight range of the updated FLYCAT exceeds 80 km, and the duration of its stay in the air is 60 minutes. The updated device is equipped with two cameras and a guidance module. The declared range of target detection and recognition is 2000 m.
The main targets of FLYCAT are armored vehicles, light shelters, artillery systems, communications equipment, antenna devices, radar stations and air defense systems.
At the same time, FLYCAT SL is an extended long-range modification of the basic UAV with a flight range of up to 200 km. It can stay in the air for more than 150 minutes and carry a combat load weighing from 5 to 7 kg. The maximum speed of the drone reaches 140 km/h.
Recall that last fall, Ukrainian Venator Technologies showed a loitering munition with an X-wing called Flycat, which has an electronic warfare-resistant navigation system that works without GPS.
