Android users now have the ability to lock their Windows PC remotely via smartphone

Microsoft has updated its Link to Windows app for Android, adding a feature that lets you lock your Windows PC with a single tap from your smartphone. The feature is gradually rolling out to users of version 1.25071.165.
This is reported by TechSpot. Previously, Android smartphone owners could set up automatic PC locking via Bluetooth. The computer «locked» when the owner walked away from it with the phone. Now a manual locking option has appeared: in the Link to Windows application, just click the «Lock PC» button, and the connected computer will be instantly locked. After that, the application will disconnect from the PC and reconnect only after manual login.
In addition to remote locking, the new version also adds clipboard synchronization. Now text copied on a computer will be available on an Android device, similar to the Universal Clipboard feature in the Apple ecosystem. This allows you to work with content faster across devices without unnecessary actions.
Another new feature is the ability to view all files and photos recently transferred from your PC, as well as transfer files back from your smartphone to your PC. Until now, these actions were only available in Windows Phone Link on your PC, not in the mobile app. The update also allows you to cast your Android screen to Windows, making it easier to demonstrate or collaborate on content.
Link to Windows has long been one of the most popular Android apps, with over a billion downloads and a 4.2-star rating on Google Play. Despite the availability of third-party alternatives, many users prefer the official Microsoft solution, trusting its security and stability.
These changes are another step towards closer integration between Android and Windows, giving users more control, convenience, and security across multiple devices.
We also reported on how Microsoft is working on a new QMR (quick machine recovery) recovery mode that will help revive computers that are having problems. This is part of Microsoft’s efforts to improve Windows' resilience after the CrowdStrike failure.
