With a car and a week of vacation, you can arrange a tourist quest around Europe: visiting three cities in three countries in three days is a good way to distract yourself from the air raids with the Shahids and return charged with new strength and impressions. We, indomitable Ukrainians, also need a recharge.

So we'll tell you about all the intricacies of planning a trip in advance and how to save on mobile internet by paying only $0.55 to always have access to Google Maps and stay in touch with your loved ones.

We, indomitable Ukrainians, also need a recharge.

So we'll tell you about all the intricacies of planning a trip in advance and how to save on mobile internet by paying only $0.55 to always have access to Google Maps and stay in touch with your loved ones.

Preparing for a trip: 5 things to think about in advance at home

  1. Determine your travel dates. Check if there are any holidays on your planned travel dates, especially religious holidays, during which everything in Europe is usually closed.
  2. Booking a place to stay overnight. During a three-day trip, you will need to stop in three different cities. According to our route, these are Krakow, Prague and Salzburg. Before booking either a hostel or a hotel room, pay attention to two things. The first is reviews, which you should read a few months in advance, or better, six months in advance. The second is breakfast, which should be included in the price of accommodation, so as not to waste time in the morning looking for a place to eat before setting off.
  3. Euro vignettes for toll roads. Since we are traveling by car, it is worth thinking in advance about a vignette - a travel document that allows you to travel on toll roads in Europe. You can buy it online in advance, indicating the dates of your trip. This way, the license plates of your car enter the database, which is then read by traffic cameras.
  4. If the car runs on gas. In European cities, there are parking lots where cars with gas-powered equipment are not allowed to be left, so owners of such cars should pay attention to this.
  5. Internet. You also need to think about network access, which will be absolutely necessary for using Google Maps on the road, even at home. We will talk about this in more detail.

How eSIM eliminates the hassle of roaming and SIM cards

An eSIM is the perfect solution for travelers who want to stay connected across Europe. As mentioned above, we recommend thinking about it in advance.

For example, for a three-day trip to Europe, the international telecommunications company Yesim offers a Trial eSim with 500 MB of mobile data at a special price of only $0.55. That is, for only about UAH 22, you get everything you need: you can follow the route on Google Maps and stay in touch with your loved ones.

Here are some mobile data usage calculations that are useful to know:

  • you will need a map for the trip: using Google Maps is approximately 5 MB per hour;
  • to communicate with relatives, you can use messengers: WhatsApp, Telegram and others, this is approximately 1 MB per 100 messages (without media);
  • If you suddenly need to check your work email, keep in mind that emails (without attachments) are approximately 1 MB for 50 emails.

For comparison, the advantages of Trial eSim : the cost of special packages for traveling in Europe depends on the number of GB of mobile data per month, which start at about $20. But if the trip is short, there is no need to overpay so much money. 500 MB Trial eSim for 0.50 euros is a great option to save and spend at least $20 on gifts for loved ones and friends or buy yourself souvenirs to remember the trip.

Krakow, Poland

We will begin our three-day trip through Europe in the city of Krakow, the second largest and most populous city in Poland after Warsaw. It is a city of legends, unique architectural monuments, and the historical capital of the country.

The symbol of the city is the Market Square - one of the largest medieval squares in Europe, where the Basilica of St. Mary is located, its greatest treasure is the world-famous Marian Altar by master Vit Stvos. Also on the square is the 70-meter Town Hall Tower, which offers a wide panorama of the city.

The central place on the square is occupied by the Cloth Hall, a medieval commercial building where you can buy authentic Krakow souvenirs on the first floor and visit the exhibition halls of the National Museum of Krakow on the second. From the Cloth Hall, you can go down to the underground market, which was opened to tourists in 2010.

In the corner of the Market Square is Krzysztofora's Palace, the main location of the Krakow Museum.

Also within a radius of 2 km from the Market Square you can see:

  • Wawel Castle is located 0.8 km away, and is considered the symbol and soul of Krakow and all of Poland. Polish kings lived and were crowned here.
  • Kazimierz is a historic Jewish quarter located 1.2 km away. It was a separate town that became part of Krakow only in the 19th century.

As for traditional dishes that you definitely need to try, these are Polish pies, which are an analogue of Ukrainian dumplings, but at the same time very different.

Prague, Czech Republic

You won't be able to see all the sights of the Czech capital in half a day, but you can see the main treasures in full, which are located very compactly, as if for the convenience of tourists.

The heart of the historic center of Prague is the Old Town Square (about 1.5 hectares), where historic buildings are located:

  • The Old Town Hall with a tower housing an astronomical clock that is over 600 years old;
  • Kinski Palace , built in the mid-18th century, houses the halls of the National Gallery, which is known for its unique collections of works of art;
  • St. Nicholas Cathedral is the main temple of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church, built in the first half of the 18th century. The main attraction of the temple is the choros (crystal chandelier), made in the shape of an imperial crown.
  • the Gothic Church of the Virgin Mary is a real pearl of the Old Town Square;
  • a commemorative sculpture of the national hero of the Czechs, Jan Hus , a few steps away is the Prague Prime Meridian - a sundial that was considered the most accurate in the country.

The square is also known for its restaurants, cafes and shops where you can taste traditional Czech cuisine and buy gifts. One of the famous dishes is pork knuckle.

There is also a hotel on the square called U Prince, with a rooftop restaurant offering a magnificent view of the ancient city while enjoying a cup of coffee.

About 1.2 km from the Old Town Square is the Charles Bridge , which connects the two districts - the Old Town and the Lesser Town, the left and right banks of the Vltava. Walking along the bridge, which is 516 m long, you can enjoy wonderful views, see 30 ancient sculptures, make a wish and listen to street musicians.

Salzburg, Austria

Salzburg, the fourth largest city in Austria, is known throughout the world as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . It is with the museum of the great composer that we will begin our journey through the city. This is house number 9, where Mozart was born and lived for 17 years, and his family lived there from 1747 to 1773. The museum presents original instruments, manuscripts and personal belongings of the family.

The museum is located on the 300-meter-long Getreidegasse, an old shopping street that dates back to the Roman Empire. In the 14th century, nobles settled here. Today, it is home to many shops, cafes, and restaurants, all with old-style signs.

Not far from Getreidegasse is the heart of historic Salzburg - the Residenzplatz square, in the center of which is one of the oldest fountains in Austria. The square unites the Old and New Archbishop's Residences, which are located opposite each other, the Salzburg History Museum, the Cathedral of St. Rupert and Virgil.

Next to the Residenzplatz is Mozartplatz , where a statue of the composer stands in the center. The square is dominated by a bell tower, whose history dates back to 1695.

By the way, be sure to try the Mozartkugel (Mozartkugel - "Mozart ball"). These are traditional round chocolate candies with marzipan filling, invented 100 years after Mozart's death by local confectioner Paul Fürst in 1890.

Also try the Salzburg Nockerln , an airy baked soufflé served with powdered sugar and sweet and sour cherry yogurt. The dessert has three peaks that symbolize the Salzburg mountains - the Kapuzinerberg, the Mönchsberg and the Rheinberg.

Our three-day journey through the cities of Europe has come to an end. It's time to return home. And most importantly, remember: traveling, whether abroad or in Ukraine, is not a luxury, but a source of renewal so as not to break down during the war, and a source of strength to fight the enemy.
