"Starting in May, Skype will no longer be available. Continue communicating in Teams," reports the XDA portal.

Skype was released in 2003, and in 2011 it was acquired by Microsoft for $8.5 billion. Later, the company gradually abandoned some of its own messengers, in particular Windows Live Messenger, and in 2015 tried to integrate Skype into Windows 10, Windows Phone, and even Xbox.
In 2017, Microsoft launched Teams, a collaboration platform built on Skype, to compete with apps like Slack. Since then, the company has focused its strategy on promoting Teams as its primary messenger.
Skype last received a notable update in May 2024. And in December last year, Microsoft closed the Skype Numbers and Skype Credit programs, which allowed users to purchase a personal number for making calls outside the platform.
