One signature instead of a ton of papers: how a Ukrainian family created a digital ecosystem that almost all businesses use
Linkos Group has been creating digital services for reporting, document management, and business process automation for over 25 years. In an exclusive interview, Olesya Linnyk, the company’s managing partner, told how the company’s history began, which products bring the most revenue, how the war changed demand, and what awaits Ukrainian digital services in the future.
The beginning: from the maternity hospital to the first programs
— How did the history of Linkos Group projects begin? How did the founders meet?
— If we talk about the beginning, it’s right to start with how we met my father — Sergey Linnyk — in the maternity hospital. He even got to me through the drainpipe, because they wouldn’t let him in otherwise. He was the first founder of our family IT company. I had to wait 20 years for me to join the business. My father is a very talented programmer-entrepreneur and even then he was creating the first programs for automation — first payroll, then accounting, then production and enterprise management.
— How did the development of electronic reporting services in our country begin?
— The turning point was the state request for digitalization. We created a system for the tax service to receive and process electronic reports and declarations — this was the first step towards building transparent relationships between the state and business. But it quickly became obvious: without digital tools for the business itself, this process would remain one-sided. After all, most companies at that time still prepared reports on paper, stood in queues, and tax officials manually transferred data. Thus, the next stage was born — to make digitalization accessible to every accountant and entrepreneur.
— Were there any specific management principles that you took as a basis when creating the product?
— We implemented the principles of Lean and Kaizen management, the philosophy of continuous process improvement, and the rule of «Poka-yoke» — «protection against errors.» This is how the first electronic reporting service with checks and automatic calculations appeared.
— How was your service perceived by the business at the very beginning?
— Back then, our solutions were ahead of their time. Ukrainian business was just beginning to get acquainted with computers, and sending reports directly from the workplace seemed almost a fantasy. But it was this bold idea that became the foundation for the development of electronic reporting in Ukraine.
At that time, digitalization in the form of submitting reports on a floppy disk seemed like an incredibly progressive step.
Then, with the advent of e-mail, we began to explore the possibility of sending reports by e-mail. And then the question arose of encryption, digital signature and legal significance of sent electronic documents. So we had to create one of the first centers of electronic service providers in Ukraine and teach businesses to use the CEP technology, that is, digital signature. And the next step was to create electronic document management for primary documents. For this task, we have a new product Medok — My Electronic DOCUMENT.
Investments and financial structure
— How much investment has been made in Ukrainian digital products over the past 25 years? Do you need investment?
— It’s difficult to name a specific figure, but it’s tens of millions of dollars. Especially because of inflation and the rising cost of IT specialists. The main investment is in people. We have always maintained a balance between investments in technology and in the team. Today, all of the company’s products are profitable, so we don’t need investments.
Revenue and market structure
— Which product brings in the most revenue and how has the revenue structure changed?
— The largest revenues today are brought by products that have already become the market standard — Medoc and digital signature services. They have the trust of hundreds of thousands of users. Along with them, «young» products are growing — PRRO Cashalot, SOTA, Medoc API SAF-T UA, which are actively gaining users. The emergence of these solutions into leading positions will create a balanced structure of future revenues.
— How does the company support the market and specialists?
— The company actively cooperates with future accountants, economists and IT specialists: it conducts practical classes and provides students with access to its programs. During such classes, students work as real counterparties — they exchange electronic invoices and acts, sign CEP documents. Thanks to this, training turns from theory into real experience, which prepares them for work in a real business environment.
— How many users are there in the Linkos ecosystem?
— More than 1 million users work with our products every day .
— What services have you launched/are you launching this year?
— The war changed the structure of business, but we focused on those who continue to work. We create relevant tools for the effective operation of Ukrainian enterprises. One of the new tools is the module for submitting SAF-T files for tax audits.
In addition, we are actively implementing e-TTN — electronic freight bills, which save hundreds of thousands of hryvnias every year.
For businesses, this means simpler logistics, less paperwork, a reduced risk of errors, and greater transparency in interactions with counterparties and regulatory authorities. For the state, this means better control of commodity flows, faster data processing, and increased efficiency of the entire goods circulation system.
Such solutions create a single digital ecosystem in which business and the state speak the same language — the language of accurate data, transparent processes, and shared responsibility.
— How did the demand for the company’s products change during the war?
— Despite the fact that business is difficult, demand is not decreasing, it is even growing. Enterprises and entrepreneurs are more actively switching to electronic document management, because it is convenient and really saves time and money, which businesses are especially concerned about now. They are saving more and optimizing more processes to be faster and more flexible. Such optimization is achieved through the implementation of our services and products.
There is also a demand for accounting solutions from Ukrainian manufacturers due to the desire to abandon Russian software. And although this requires investments and resources from businesses, the tendency of such awareness and responsibility is gradually creating such a trend and demand.
Software from the Russian Federation. What to do with it
— Do you see a gradual transition of Ukrainian users to Ukrainian products?
— The situation here is interesting. The whole world is creating and applying sanctions against everything racist, losing billions of money in the process due to the rejection of our enemy’s market. The world is rejecting Russian influence even despite the losses.
In Ukraine, this path continues — although for many companies, the transition from Russian software still seems like a difficult challenge. Not because of a lack of patriotism, but because there is a fear of destroying established processes, losing data, and encountering technical difficulties.
— Is there anything to replace it with?
— Yes! There are many high-quality software products on the market, both Ukrainian-made and international brands. We at Linkos Group understand these concerns and are doing everything to show that switching to Ukrainian solutions is not a painful transformation, but a step towards independence, security, and modernity.

Cybersecurity and counterattacks
— How does the company protect user data during war?
— I will tell you that for us, a full-scale war did not begin like for everyone else on the morning of February 24, 2022. The attack on our infrastructure began on the evening of February 23. Because the enemy, before launching the missile bombardments, launched a very serious cyberattack. And we were able to repel it then.
Because we already had experience…
— Are you referring to the 2017 Medoc cyberattack and the NotPetya virus?
— Yes. At that time, unfortunately, neither we nor the whole world had yet encountered an attack of such an approach and level that the Russian special services had already committed against Ukraine, using our product. But I can tell you that the world’s best experts in cyber incidents and security investigated and studied our case in order to learn and create systems to counter such attacks. And thanks to cooperation with them, we managed to build a new level of cybersecurity. And the main lesson we learned from that experience is that there is no system that cannot be hacked. Therefore, in the modern digital world, investments in security are not a luxury, but a necessity.
Competition and innovation
— Who are your competitors and how are you different from them?
— There are many competitors, they are strong. But when they copy us, we understand what lies ahead. We are ahead with our ideas and developments. We respect our competitors: they do not let us relax and make us better.
— What role does AI play in your products?
— We treat AI tools with respect and recognize the breakthrough of this type of development. Using AI helps a lot and speeds up processes. The main thing in implementing AI is to overcome a person’s fear of being replaced. Because when you give a task to implement AI, employees are afraid of losing their jobs as a result of such an implementation. I believe that AI improves the work of a qualified employee, not replaces a qualified employee.
— What makes it better?
— Because simple, monotonous, boring, but necessary work can be offloaded to AI, saving time for important and complex things.

The future: development in Ukraine and beyond
— What are the plans?
— There are a lot of ideas for future developments. Many orders. Today, there are not enough human resources for all this. Many are in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, some have left, some are losing energy and ability to work in such living conditions…
During the war, many Ukrainian companies began to enter foreign markets — some in search of stability, some for diversification. This is a natural reaction of business to the challenges of the times.
For Linkos Group, the priority is different: to stay and work here, in Ukraine. I believe in our team, in our clients and partners, because they are what make up the state.
Our path is to develop services that help Ukrainian businesses survive and grow. We will be able to expand to other countries after victory — when it will not be an escape, but a confident expansion of Ukrainian technologies into the world.
— Why don’t you want to enter new markets now?
Now, «expansion» means abandoning the team that works here and creating something new with new people? I don’t want such an «expansion.» I believe in Ukraine. In our team. I believe that we are very much needed here now. By our clients, customers, partners. Because our state is made up of these people and enterprises. We continue to work and develop services primarily for our state.
