The developers of the AI model for the Ukrainian language MamayLM have introduced version v2.0. Currently, it does not receive many answers in Ukrainian.
The Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence INSAIT has introduced a major update to the MamayLM v2.0 line of language models designed for Ukrainian users and organizations. The release includes a new generation of LLM, a public free chatbot Mamay AI, as well as the possibility of local hosting and direct access to the API for Ukrainian institutions.
The Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence INSAIT has introduced a major update to the MamayLM v2.0 line of language models designed for Ukrainian users and organizations. The release includes a new generation of LLM, a public free chatbot Mamay AI, as well as the possibility of local hosting and direct access to the API for Ukrainian institutions.
The MamayLM development team announced the launch of the new dev.ua toolkit.
The new family of models is based on Google’s Gemma 3 architecture and is available in two configurations — 12B and 27B parameters. Currently, version 27B is the largest LLM adapted specifically for the Ukrainian language. The models were created taking into account user feedback on the first version. The developers claim that thanks to new alignment methods from INSAIT, they were able to achieve high accuracy and productivity in the Ukrainian language, which allows the models to compete with much larger counterparts.
In parallel, the developers have launched a free public chatbot, Mamay AI. The platform supports text, image, and audio processing, has integrated web search, step-by-step thinking, and is capable of analyzing long documents. The service is powered by INSAIT’s sovereign AI stack, which similarly powers the national chatbot BgGPT in Bulgaria.
To accelerate technology integration, developers provide Ukrainian institutions with free local hosting of models and direct access to the API upon request.

A dev.ua journalist tested the new chatbot in practice, and the results turned out to be contradictory. Despite the optimization claimed by the developers, Mamay AI currently generates answers in Ukrainian quite poorly. During testing, the AI assistant regularly skipped letters and “swallowed” individual words. Similar problems were also encountered when generating answers in English.
