In Ukraine, a new digital project is planned to be launched before the start of the heating season — an interactive «Map of Energy Independence.» It will display the equipment of residential buildings with alternative power sources, including generators, inverters, and solar panels.
This was reported by the Ministry of Reconstruction, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine. The corresponding memorandum of cooperation was signed by Deputy Minister for Digital Development Ihor Reva and co-founder of the NGO «LUN Misto» Anna Denysenko.
The platform is designed to help residents, renters, and homebuyers assess the readiness of buildings for potential emergency power outages. Users will be able to see which buildings have already provided themselves with basic autonomy thanks to the initiative of condominium associations, managers, or developers.
In the development, special attention was paid to security issues. Only general information will be published on the map without highlighting sensitive or technical details. In addition, representatives of condominium associations or housing and communal services will have the opportunity to promptly correct or partially hide data about their house through feedback. The platform will also provide reference information on state and local compensation programs and grants for the installation of energy-efficient equipment.
«This map is a simple and at the same time safe tool that helps people clearly see which houses have already equipped themselves with generators, solar panels, or inverters. For residents, this is an opportunity to choose autonomous housing, and for condominium associations and managers, to show the results of their training. Together with LUN, we are creating solutions that really help Ukrainians get through difficult periods more easily,» noted Ihor Reva.
After launching the project, the partners plan to expand its functionality, involve managers in data verification, and expand the map to other major cities in Ukraine.
Previously, the LUN Misto team had already implemented similar social and digital solutions, including interactive maps of establishments with autonomous power supply during blackouts caused by Russian shelling of Ukrainian infrastructure, as well as maps of air quality and accessibility of the urban environment.
