Indiana bankruptcy attorney Mark Zuckerberg has filed a lawsuit against Meta CEO.
Lawyer Mark Zuckerberg uses a business Facebook page to advertise his law practice and communicate with potential clients. However, over the past 8 years, his page has been disabled 5 times because Meta moderation systems flagged his account as impersonating Mark Zuckerberg, the platform's founder, TechCrunch reports .
In his legal complaint, Mark Zuckerberg notes that he has been practicing law since Mark Zuckerberg was only three years old.
"It's not funny. It's not funny at all when they take my money. It makes me really angry," said attorney Mark Zuckerberg.
A man spent over $11,000 advertising his page on Meta platforms. But when his account was suspended for allegedly impersonating Mark Zuckerberg, he still had to pay for the ads.
In his complaint, the lawyer attached a copy of an email from 2020, where he inquires about his wrongfully blocked account and notes that he has been communicating with the platform regarding this issue since 2017.
“Also, if you happen to meet a younger, richer Mark Zuckerberg, give him my regards and tell him he gives me a lot of trouble every day,” lawyer Mark Zuckerberg wrote in one of the letters.
The lawyer has long been haunted by his namesake. What's more, he even launched a website, iammarkzuckerberg.com, where he talks about how his life was changed by the name that became known to the whole world.
"I can't use my name when booking or doing business because people think I'm a joker and hang up," he said.
Although the lawyer is not a famous billionaire, he is a respected figure in the bankruptcy industry. But even in his own territory, he cannot avoid another Mark Zuckerberg.
"During a speech in Las Vegas, a limo driver waited for me at the foot of an escalator with a sign saying 'Mark Zuckerberg,' which caused chaos as a large, disappointed crowd waited," Mark Zuckerberg wrote.
The lawyer says he regularly receives phone calls and messages intended for the tech company founder, sometimes containing death threats and requests for money. But when this daily nuisance turned into a potential loss of income, Mark Zuckerberg lost patience with Mark Zuckerberg.
If there's any consolation for a lawyer, it's that he'll always be the first to come up when you Google "Mark Zuckerberg bankruptcy"... at least for now.
