The head of the Italian government announced this on the social network X (Twitter). According to her, «diligent opponents» are using any methods, including generative technologies, to spread lies and carry out political attacks.
«I have to admit that whoever created them, at least in this case, also significantly improved me. But the fact remains: in order to attack and invent lies, they really use anything these days,» Maloney emphasized, adding an example of a fake photo to her post.
She added that the main problem goes far beyond her personality. Deepfakes pose a threat primarily to those who do not have the resources to protect themselves from digital manipulation.
«Deepfakes are a dangerous tool because they can deceive, manipulate, and hurt anyone. I can protect myself. Many others cannot,» the prime minister said.
Maloney urged users to follow the rule: «verify before you believe, and believe before you share.»
Earlier, psychologist and expert of «Osvitoria» Kateryna Holtsberg reported on mass cases of «digital terror» against teachers in Ukrainian schools. According to her, videos are appearing on TikTok in which teachers' faces are superimposed on humiliating, pornographic or absurd stories using artificial intelligence.
