According to Mary Jo Foley, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, the proposed E7 plan will include Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365, a preview service designed to manage and control AI agents in enterprise environments. It will also include features not currently included in the Microsoft 365 E5 tier, The Register reports .
Microsoft 365 prices will increase on July 1, 2026, with the flagship E5 plan going up from $57 to $60 per month. An annual subscription to Microsoft 365 Copilot will add another $30 per month. The sum of these two components gives an idea of how much an E7 license could cost. According to reports, the expected licensing tier could be priced at $99 per month.
That may seem like a lot, but this level of licensing could appeal to customers who want to avoid the administrative hassle of an E5 plan and a bunch of add-ons. It's also a win-win for Microsoft, which needs to protect its bottom line if the number of "agent workers" in the corporate world continues to grow rapidly.
According to Foley, Microsoft has made it clear: "As AI agents become a mainstream phenomenon in large companies, they will have to be licensed like live employees."
According to Lane Shelton of Directions on Microsoft: “This is not just another pricing plan. Microsoft aims to become the main hub for AI management in companies where digital workers are increasingly emerging.”
This step will allow Microsoft to adapt its licensing system to the needs of automated work teams and ensure stable growth of the corporation's revenues, regardless of transformations in the labor market.
