Ukraine has developed disposable MITLA nets against FPV drones: how does this solution work?

The Ukrainian company TENETA has developed a new means of countering enemy drones — the MITLA disposable sitcom.

As reported on the company’s website, the main purpose of the development is to intercept FPV drones and reconnaissance quadcopters. This is a disposable device that does not require maintenance. The developers guarantee one year of effective operation of the device.

The MITLA Sitcom weighs only 365 grams. Its dimensions are: height — 200 mm, diameter — 40 mm, so it easily fits in a bag, backpack or even a pocket of equipment. The Sitcom makes it possible to neutralize a drone before it strikes.

To activate, simply take it out, aim, and fire — the net instantly deploys and neutralizes the enemy drone, entangling its propellers. The net deploys within 0.2 seconds of leaving the cartridge case.

According to the developers, the Sitcomet can be used in both hot and cold weather. The device demonstrates stable operation regardless of the environment, which is especially important in a combat zone.

MITLA has an effective firing range of up to 25 meters, and the grid size is 3,5×3.5 m, which is enough to block the trajectory of a drone in close combat or when defending positions.

It should be noted that when fired, the device has a strong recoil, as it is equipped with a 7.62 caliber pyro cartridge, so it is recommended to hold it with both hands. «No complicated settings or lengthy preparation. Just take it out, aim and shoot — the net instantly captures the enemy drone, depriving it of control,» the developers write.

Unlike its bulky counterparts, the sitcom doesn’t look like a shotgun or rifle.
