The Ministry of Defense has codified and allowed the use of two Ukrainian night vision monoculars, MT GEKKO PRO 40 and MT GEKKO PRO 50, in the Defense Forces. These are compact devices that military personnel can use during night missions in the field.
According to the Ministry of Defense, these models have already been tested in combat conditions and have received enhanced protection designed for harsh operation. The department also emphasizes that the manufacturer has been refining the optics in cooperation with the military.
Depending on the configuration, monoculars allow you to detect enemy manpower at a distance of over 400 m, and equipment at almost 2,000 m. The report notes that such devices are used not only for observation: they help navigate the terrain, perform technical work, read maps, drive vehicles, and provide assistance to the wounded in the dark.
Another emphasis on the versatility of use. MT GEKKO PRO can be held in your hands or mounted on a helmet or weapon to work without unnecessary movements and not take up your hands while performing tasks. The Ministry of Defense adds that Ukrainian models are in most cases cheaper than foreign analogues, which is critical for large-scale support of units.
The Ministry of Defense’s approval means that the product has passed certain tests and can be officially operated in the troops and purchased for the needs of the Defense Forces. In practice, this speeds up the path of devices from the manufacturer to the units and expands the choice of available night vision equipment, including Ukrainian-made ones.
