The Ministry of Defense has approved the use of the Chaika and Muhobiyka simulators in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to combat enemy UAVs
The Ukrainian military is systematically moving from «shooting at banks» to high-tech training: the Ministry of Defense has officially approved the use of electronic simulators «Chaika» and «Chaika-M» («Fly Swatter») in the Armed Forces, which prepare calculations for the destruction of drones and cruise missiles without the use of ammunition.
As the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports on its website, the complexes have already been approved for operation in units of the Defense Forces. Training on them allows you to safely practice hitting air targets and significantly save ammunition, which is especially important in conditions of a protracted war.
«Chaika» and «Muhobyka» simulate attacks by FPV UAVs, «Lancet», «Shahed» and subsonic cruise missiles from different heights, angles, distances and with variable speed. The military works in scenarios that are as close as possible to real combat conditions, practicing not only accuracy, but also speed of decision-making.
In these simulators, fighters learn to fire Igla and Stinger MANPADS, DShK and M2 machine guns, as well as small arms. The tasks are designed to get operators used to the chaotic movement of targets, changes in the environment, and the need to instantly switch between different types of threats in the sky.
«The Seagull» is actually a VR complex for air defense: the soldier works in virtual reality glasses, and instead of real weapons, he uses mock-ups of MANPADS or machine guns with tracking sensors. This allows him to repeatedly drive through complex episodes without risk to people and equipment.
«Chaika-M» («Flying Swatter») is a second-generation simulator designed for personal protection against FPV drones and «Lancets». The shooter finds himself in a simulated reality where drones appear suddenly, change trajectories, and «dive» behind cover, forcing him to work instinctively and without delay. These are the scenarios that mobile air defense groups on the front lines most often see today.
It is also important that the Chaika and Muhobiyka are not one-off prototypes, but serial products. According to the developers, dozens of complexes have already been transferred to the military, and even more orders are coming through government procurement and defense programs, including the Brave1 ecosystem and other innovation support tools.
The decision of the Ministry of Defense to allow these simulators to be used in the Armed Forces of Ukraine formalizes a practice that has already become a standard of combat training in many parts. For the Ukrainian Air Defense, this means a transition to systematic, technological training of thousands of soldiers who have a few seconds every day to make a decision and shoot down an enemy drone or missile before it reaches its target.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how a professional VR simulator «Duel VR: FPV vs GUN» appeared in Ukraine, in which a drone operator and a gunner practice countering each other in real time. The development was created for training units in stressful conditions close to combat.
The Ministry of Defense will provide 180 brigades with budgets for the purchase of electronic warfare equipment through the DOT-Chain Defence marketplace
