A $1 billion high-tech city project powered by artificial intelligence is entering the practical implementation phase, with the first residents set to move in much sooner than expected.
The American company Praxis announced that the new smart city will be located in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Incidentally, Ukraine was previously considered among the potential locations for this project .
The first phase of the community development is called +Colonia, and it will be a modern coastal urban area. According to Praxis, the planned investment program will include the construction of residential buildings, infrastructure development, a hotel business, as well as the creation of spaces for cultural and commercial activities.
In addition, the development of the project will provide jobs for local construction workers, hospitality professionals, suppliers, and representatives of Uruguay's creative businesses.
The first group of residents is expected to move in by mid-2027. Unlike Akon's canceled futuristic "Wakanda-style" city project, +Colonia's launch won't take decades.
“Every frontier needs pioneers willing to build. We aim to bring that spirit into a new era of human civilization,” said Praxis CEO Dryden Brown.
