The corresponding decree No. 214/2026 was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The document amends the Regulations on military service by citizens of Ukraine in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reports .
The candidacy is first approved by the Deputy Minister for Digital Development, after which an official order from the Ministry of Defense is issued.
The appointment, transfer, or reassignment of digital transformation specialists will be made in accordance with special procedures established by the Ministry of Defense.

After successful selection, the serviceman is awarded the rank of junior lieutenant and assigned to an IT position.
"The new norms allow for the systematic involvement of people with experience in IT, engineering, and technology in the development of the Defense Forces. This will help implement digital solutions in the military and strengthen Ukraine's technological advantage on the battlefield," the military department noted.
As a reminder, the Ministry of Defense has launched the deployment of an IT vertical - a network of over 7,000 digital officers at all levels of the Defense Forces: from the battalion to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense.
Recruitment and appointment of specialists are currently underway, and public vacancies for the military will soon become available.
Such specialists will implement digital systems in units, collect feedback from the military, and generate requests for new technological solutions.
