The Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC 2025) is taking place in Barcelona, Spain from March 3-6, and focuses primarily on mobile gadgets. The show also featured many concept products.
Lenovo
Among the big names, Lenovo was perhaps the most active at MWC, unveiling a range of laptops, including updated ThinkPads and a few mysterious concept models that are yet to be released.
Ultra-light ThinkPad X13
The first 2-in-1 T-series transformer with the ThinkPad T14s model and the updated ThinkBook 16p workstation. This is the latest 13.3-inch ThinkPad X13, now in its 6th generation, which is an ultraportable thin business laptop, writes The Verge.
Lenovo has managed to further reduce its weight from 2.25 pounds (over 1 kg) on the Gen 5 to just 2.05 pounds (less than 1 kg), although it may be heavier in some configurations. For comparison, Apple’s lightest M3 MacBook Air weighs 2.7 pounds (1.2 kg).
The Yoga Solar PC can be charged by the sun
Thanks to solar panels on the case, the laptop can get enough energy from the sun in 20 minutes to play an hour of video. Just 0.3 watts of light is enough to charge the battery, writes Engadget.
ThinkBook Flip
Lenovo also unveiled a concept computer with AI, the ThinkBook, codenamed Flip. It’s a laptop with a flexible display that allows it to be used as a traditional 13.1-inch clamshell, a folded 12.9-inch tablet, or a laptop with a very tall 18.1-inch vertical screen.
Magic Bay
The Magic Bay Dual Display concept adds a 13.3-inch panel on either side of the main display. There’s also a slim second display that sits above the laptop screen and provides quick access to things like the time, weather, focus mode timer, AI assistant, and notifications.
AI Display and AI Stick
The company also showed two concept accessories for working with artificial intelligence. AI Display received a discrete neural processor for working with artificial intelligence. dNPU expands the capabilities of the screen by automatically rotating, lifting and tilting it to give users the best viewing angle.
The AI Stick has built-in NPUs capable of operating at 32 TOPS, allowing users to perform local AI work on virtually any computer connected via USB.
Samsung
Samsung’s main MWC news this year is the company’s latest mid-range and budget phones, adding even more AI.
The new Galaxy A56, A36, and A26 now come equipped with what the company calls «amazing intelligence,» enabling a number of new AI-powered image editing features that are already available in Samsung’s more expensive S25 lineup.
One such feature is Best Face, an AI tool that lets you swap the facial expressions of up to five people in moving photos if someone blinks or looks away from the camera. The feature is similar to Best Take on the Google Pixel and was launched on the Galaxy S25 in January.
Foldable Flex Gaming Console
One of the most interesting developments was the new Flex Gaming portable game console, which features a 7.2-inch foldable OLED display that splits the console into two halves, and there are joystick holes on both sides of the built-in controller.
The idea is that you get a portable gaming device that offers a large display while you play. When it’s time to store the device, it folds up to become more compact.
At the show, Samsung introduced Flex Gaming alongside such well-known devices as the Steam Deck and the Razer Blade 16 gaming laptop. All three ran games from KRAFTON, including InZOI and Dark and Darker.
Headphones from HMD and Xiaomi
HMD Amped Buds headphones can charge your phone’s battery
HMD has announced a new set of wireless earbuds with a case that doubles as a backup battery for your phone. They come in a Qi2 charging case that uses reverse wireless charging to top up your phone. With a slim design and a 1600mAh battery, this portable case provides enough power to last you through the day. They feature active noise cancellation. The 14mm-thick case is IPX4 dust-resistant, while the earbuds are IP54 splash-proof.
Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro are the first headphones with Wi-Fi that fulfilled Qualcomm’s promise
Xiaomi has launched its Buds 5 Pro in Europe, the first headphones to use the Qualcomm S7 Pro chip to stream audio over Wi-Fi, in addition to Bluetooth, without increasing power consumption. Qualcomm announced the technology in October 2023, and this is the first hardware to launch.
They come in two versions: a regular Bluetooth model and a Wi-Fi version that uses Qualcomm’s Enhanced Personal Area Network (XPAN) technology to deliver 96kHz/24-bit lossless audio at up to 4.2Mbps, which is better than anything you can get over Bluetooth. You can also walk away from your phone without any drop in connection quality as long as you’re within Wi-Fi range.
Also of interest is Nubia’s Focus 2 Ultra, which has a rotating dial around the rear camera that’s actually functional: it controls the phone’s camera zoom. It’s surprisingly easy to rotate with one finger when holding the phone in portrait mode.
Chinese phone brand Infinix has unveiled a phone with a built-in solar panel on the back, as well as a phone case that charges using solar panels. Infinix calls this technology SolarEnergy-Reserving, which charges the phone with up to 2 watts and is designed to compensate for the phone’s reserved charge when it’s not in use.
