Former head of the Defense Ministry, Mykhailo Fedorov, dismissed from his post in mid-July, has expressed his desire and hope to head the Ministry of Defense again.
Mykhailo Fedorov stated this on the air of Serhiy Sternenko, Ukrainska Pravda reports .
According to the former government official, he does not see any other options for his activities as long as there is public demand and no final refusal.
"I have no moral right to do anything else now, because as long as people are fighting for tomorrow and my name is being mentioned, people believe that it can be done, and today there is no clear "no", I believe that we always have a chance," Fedorov emphasized.
He drew attention to the current situation in the department's leadership, emphasizing that the institution is currently headed by acting head Yevheniy Khmara, who has limited powers and does not have the right to vote on government decisions. The former minister believes that this state of affairs is unacceptable during a war.
"This may be a temporary phenomenon, but it cannot be for long, ... so it is very important that this process has a certain deadline," he said.
Fedorov called the absence of a full-fledged Minister of Defense irresponsible even after the end of the parliamentary recess (August 18), when the Verkhovna Rada will be able to appoint a new leader.
Answering questions about actions in the event of failure to return to the Ministry of Defense, Fedorov noted that he would reveal his further steps only after key dates have passed.
"Come on, when we pass these dates, I will continue to talk about my path, what we will do. I have options B, C, D, and so on," the former minister said.
Despite this, he assured that in any case he would continue to work for the defense sector of the state.
"It is important to work for our victory to implement the plan we talked about. Because we do not have hundreds of teams with hundreds of people who understand war and are ready to serve their country 27/7. Therefore, we will find a format in which we will serve our country in any case," Fedorov added.
The former official also reported that he had already handed over his developed action plan to Acting Minister Yevhen Khmara.
Regarding contacts with the head of state Volodymyr Zelensky, Fedorov laconically noted: "We had certain communications."
Fedorov's successor has said he intends to end the war before his sons reach military age. They are now 9 and 11. Highlights from Yevgeny Khmara's interview with Lori Loomer
