A new remotely controlled demining machine has been developed in the Donetsk region. It can demine up to 5 hectares per day and can withstand an anti-tank mine.
The Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant has developed the Germina URCM-3000 remotely controlled demining system. Over 60% of its components are Ukrainian-made. Currently, the first sample of the machine is undergoing testing, and then it will be sent for certification of conformity.
The Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant has developed the Germina URCM-3000 remotely controlled demining system. Over 60% of its components are Ukrainian-made. Currently, the first sample of the machine is undergoing testing, and then it will be sent for certification of conformity.
During demonstration tests, the machine, with the working body immersed in the soil by 5 cm, covered a 100-meter section in one and a half minutes. The width of the passage was 2.7 m. This allows for surface cleaning of a 1-hectare area in an hour, and 5 hectares in one shift, the Ministry of Economy reports .
Germina was able to destroy all the training mock-ups of explosive objects placed at the site, including TM62 and PTM4 anti-tank mines, anti-personnel high-explosive mines, and hand grenades.
The demining machine is equipped with working elements: a chain mechanism, a milling cutter, a manipulator and a multifunctional bucket for moving soil. The manufacturer claims that such a kit allows for quick and safe demining of fields and forest belts, and will also be effective in clearing positions, trenches and buildings.
The machine uses the engine, chassis, and hydraulics of the best European and American manufacturers. The machine can be remotely controlled from a distance of up to one kilometer.
"The manufacturer managed to create a machine that has high productivity, cross-country ability, is easy to maintain, and can withstand an explosion of up to 10 kilograms in TNT equivalent. Such a machine will allow agricultural land to be demined much faster," said Eduard Drach, technical director of the UDS operator, whose company is currently working with the first model of the machine.
Already in the first half of this year, UDS plans to receive 5 Germina vehicles from the Kramatorsk plant to perform humanitarian demining tasks in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions.
The warranty period is 3 years. The manufacturer claims that the car in the basic configuration will initially cost 500,000 euros, which is several times cheaper than foreign analogues.
