Researchers confirm the largest leak in history, in which 16 billion login credentials, including passwords, were compromised.
According to Vilius Petkauskas of Cybernews, quoted by Forbes, «30 leaked datasets were discovered, each containing from tens of millions to over 3.5 billion records.»
The password leak in question includes billions of login credentials from social networks, VPNs, developer portals, and user accounts of all major service providers.
The researchers said the leaked information opens the door to «virtually any online service imaginable, from Apple, Facebook, and Google to GitHub, Telegram, and various government services.»
Darren Guccione, CEO and co-founder of Keeper Security, commented that this password leak was a stark reminder of «how easily sensitive data can be inadvertently exposed online.»
According to experts, this proves once again that cybersecurity is not just a technical problem, but a shared responsibility.
«Organizations must do their part to protect their users. And individuals must remain vigilant against any attempts to steal login credentials. Choose strong and unique passwords and implement multi-factor authentication wherever possible,» said Jawwad Malik, lead information security specialist at KnowBe4.

«I wanted to download all my data to some server in the country 404.» A resident of Aitivka, who was wanted to be «scammed» for an unrealistic salary, told what scheme cybercriminals use to steal data from a computer
