A batch of the highly anticipated STALKER The Board Game and its expansions were completely destroyed in a fire.
This was reported by the team of the board game store and publisher «Igromag». Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the incident and the circumstances of the vehicle fire.
The company notes that the fire destroyed the very truck that was transporting the print run that the community had been waiting for for a long time.
«The investigation is currently ongoing, so we will refrain from any speculation or comments regarding the circumstances of the incident until the official conclusions of law enforcement agencies,» Igromag said in a statement.
The publisher has asked customers who have pre-ordered the game to wait for an official action plan to be released. Management is currently gathering information about the losses and working out options for further steps to provide players with their copies of the game.
STALKER The Board Game is a large-scale cooperative strategy for 1-4 players, developed under the official license of GSC Game World. The project is the result of a collaboration between the Ukrainian publisher Igromag and the Polish studio Awaken Realms. The game offers story campaigns in the Exclusion Zone, where players take on the roles of stalkers.
The gameplay combines survival mechanics, exploration, and tactical combat with detailed miniatures. Players have two main modes available: a full-fledged story campaign and a Zone Survival mode, the components of which are included in the base box.
The desktop version recreates key elements of the video game source: from anomalies and mutants to interactions with different factions, such as the Monolith, the Duty, or the Will. Each game session is designed for 120–180 minutes and is accompanied by artistic texts that convey the atmosphere of the Chernobyl zone.
