Ukrainian esports team NAVI knocked out Russian team Spirit from the PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 Counter-Strike 2 tournament. Despite the fact that the opponent leads the world ranking according to HLTV, the Ukrainian team defeated them 2:1 and made it to the playoffs. On two maps, Spirit managed to win only 5 out of 31 rounds played.
This was reported by the press service of ARS Capital.
NAVI players Drin "makazze" Shakiri and Ukrainian Igor "w0nderful" Zhdanov were particularly notable. Over three maps, they scored 57 and 50 kills, respectively.
This victory was NAVI's third in the last 15 meetings with Spirit. The team last defeated this opponent at IEM Katowice in 2025.
The Ukrainian club's path to the playoffs was not cloudless. Before the match with Spirit, NAVI confidently beat G2 and Brazilian FURIA with the same score of 2:0, but then suffered two defeats in a row — from BetBoom Team and Vitality. So in the match with Spirit, there was no room for error, because the winner advanced, and the team that lost was finishing its performance in the tournament.
And today, October 29, NAVI will play in the quarterfinals against the French team Vitality, to whom they lost two days ago. The match starts at 1:00 p.m. Kyiv time.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that in May, NAVI defeated the French Vitality with a score of 2:1 in the quarterfinals of IEM Atlanta 2026. Then, the Ukrainian team broke a streak of nine consecutive defeats against this opponent, and also prevented Vitality from continuing its record streak of 21 tournaments in a row with a top four finish.
