As Reuters writes, citing Smith’s interview with the BBC, he calls for the introduction of a number of global safety rules when interacting with AI.
In particular, such rules, in his opinion, should include mandatory notification to the "victim" about a security breach of their system by a malicious artificial intelligence agent and the presence of an "emergency brake" if AI agents get out of control.
He also believes that there should be a legal requirement for AI companies to file "incident reports."
“We know how to do this for other products. We should build on that knowledge and think about how to apply it to AI. Right now, your washing machine is subject to more safety regulations than AI. Every carton of milk you see in the grocery store is subject to safety regulations and inspections,” said Brad Smith.
