The Netherlands opened a defense cluster in Ukraine, the Dutch Defence Cluster, for its companies

The Dutch Defence Cluster has launched in Kyiv, becoming a platform that should bring together Dutch defense technology manufacturers with Ukrainian partners and accelerate joint projects for the front and security.
As reported by Militarny, the Dutch Minister of Defense Ruben Brekelmans personally opened the cluster in Kyiv and emphasized its importance for both countries. DDC is positioned as an «operational bridge» between Dutch technologies and the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces: participants receive expertise, regulatory support, access to financing and assistance in building partnerships. The goal is to quickly bring solutions to testing and subsequent serial application.
The cluster will act as a navigator of the Ukrainian market for Dutch companies, explaining procedures, requirements and risks in a rapidly changing environment. The initiative also supports Ukrainian developers: helping with partner search, cooperation with Dutch industry and integration into common supply chains.
According to the initiators, DDC should reduce the «friction» between engineering teams and government agencies so that new solutions can move from demonstration to combat use more quickly. Particular attention is paid to dual-purpose products, unmanned systems, electronic warfare, air defense/missile defense, communications, cyber defense, and logistics services, where there is a demand for rapid integration and localization of service support.
DDC emphasizes that participation in the cluster opens up access to a network of approximately two hundred Dutch defense suppliers and related services, which provides advantages in terms of timing, cost and scalability. For Ukraine, this is an additional channel of technologies, components and investments, and for the Netherlands — new sales markets and access to unique experience gained in high-intensity warfare.
Since the start of the full-scale war, the Netherlands has become one of Ukraine’s key defense partners: the country supports European coalitions on drones, aviation and air defense systems, and business is actively seeking formats for local cooperation. The opening of the DDC formalizes this cooperation, translating it into a permanent platform that reduces barriers to technology, capital and production and strengthens the resilience of European security.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Netherlands financed 150 THeMIS combat unmanned platforms from the Estonian robotics manufacturer Milrem Robotics, which will be transferred to the Ukrainian military.
The US, Denmark, the Netherlands and Ukraine are developing a homing missile-bomb for the Ukrainian Armed Forces that could sink ships. The project with a range of 453 km is expected to be completed next year.
