Zelenskyy announced changes to the National Technical University. What could change for entrants in 2027?
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed changing the conditions for conducting the National Multi-Subject Test in 2027. Among the ideas are reducing the burden on applicants, conducting testing in prepared shelters, and providing the opportunity to try to pass the NMT a second time.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed changing the conditions for conducting the National Multi-Subject Test in 2027. Among the ideas are reducing the burden on applicants, conducting testing in prepared shelters, and providing the opportunity to try to pass the NMT a second time.
Zelenskyy stated this during the Ukrainian Youth Forum on August 12.
One of the problems that the changes should solve, the president called the NMT's dependence on air alarms. For example, in June, more than 800 entrants in the Odessa region completed the NMT after 7:00 p.m. due to prolonged alarms. Some participants could have moved on to an additional session, but many decided to stay and complete the test that same day so as not to wait another month and a half.
Stories of entrants who had to spend almost the entire day on the test due to anxiety also regularly appeared on social networks. For example, user Valentyna Sotnyk wrote that her student, after almost continuous anxiety, left the NMT only late in the evening and did not have time to complete some of the tasks due to delays. And user a.hrecha told how in Odessa the test was taken to the sounds of alarms and explosions.
The user shares the story of a student who, due to anxiety, only left the test late at night.

Zelensky also proposes to make the exam itself less intense and provide a second attempt for those who are not satisfied with the first test result.
"The current format of NMT, unfortunately, is such that it adds stress to children and parents. It should be fixed," Zelensky said.
However, the Ministry of Education and Science planned to change the NMT procedure even before Zelenskyy's statement. On July 27, Education Minister Andriy Butenko, after a meeting with the head of the UCEQA, stated that testing should be made more flexible and convenient, and special attention should be paid to applicants from frontline communities.
Previously, dev.ua wrote that students with high NMT scores will be able to receive a scholarship of UAH 10,000 per month.
"The exam should not test abstract complex formulas, but the ability to logically reason and solve real-life problems." What do teachers think about the exclusion of mathematics from mandatory subjects in secondary education?
