Apple has released an updated Siri AI to users in the public beta of iOS 27. Siri is now able to take into account personal context. For example, Siri AI can now search for information in emails, messages, and photos, and also perform actions in applications. For example, you can ask Siri to find the name of a restaurant that you were once recommended in a conversation.

To be able to do this, Siri AI needs to index all the data on the smartphone. After this, the virtual assistant will be able to find old emails, photos, messages, contacts, and calendar events. The user can also prohibit Siri from using information from individual applications. As Rhys Rogers from WIRED notes, indexing the data on his smartphone took a little over a week.
A reporter from The Verge reported that when he asked Siri to add all the WWDC briefings to his calendar, the assistant found the information in an email, parsed it, and created 6 separate events with the correct times. He also mentioned that he decided to ask Siri if he would have time to go to a concert by a certain band. He noted that he asked about an event where there were several bands, and the assistant independently found information about when a specific band’s concert was taking place.
However, the new version of Siri also has its limits. For example, the notes for this beta release note that Siri may not see the photos the user has selected on the screen and may interpret the command «send these photos» as «send all photos found for this search query» rather than just the selected ones.
Siri AI does not yet have a memory about the user. Therefore, for example, Siri does not yet have the ability to remember that the user is vegan, and when asked to find a recipe for a certain dish, it will not search for its vegan version unless this is specified.
Not all users have access to the new Siri AI right now. After installing iOS 27, you also need to join the Siri AI waiting list and wait for the feature to be activated. Apple plans to release iOS 27 in the fall, and Siri AI should become widely available to users later in 2026. Tim Cook, the owner of Apple, also noted that frequent use of Siri AI may require a paid subscription.
