President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering dismissing Mykhailo Fedorov from the post of head of the Ministry of Defense. As Ukrainska Pravda learned from its own sources in the government, his successor may be the current head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
According to sources of «Ukrainian Pravda», over the weekend Zelensky offered Fedorov the position of head of the government, but he refused. The Minister of Defense explained this by the fact that he took office only a few months ago and had just begun the reform of the department. Because of this, their negotiations were more like a working meeting than an interview, and after the conversation, the head of the Ministry of Defense assured the team that he would continue to work as usual.
However, UP sources believe that the situation is different: Zelensky may offer Fedorov to return to the Ministry of Digital Affairs or take up another symbolic position.
«It is for this reason, it seems, that the president simultaneously asked the Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, to be ready to transfer to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is directly oriented towards the president, and in his department the significant influence of the Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate, Oleg Tatarov, remains,» Ukrainska Pravda reports.
If Klymenko is appointed Minister of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs may be headed by the current head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi.
