ARMA to sell seized cryptocurrency mining equipment. A competitive procedure is being prepared to make everything "transparent and efficient"
In the summer of 2023, the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered an underground crypto farm organized by employees of one of the branches of the State Security Service of Ukraine "Forests of Ukraine". In the summer of 2023, the State Bureau of Investigation uncovered an underground crypto farm organized by employees of one of the branches of the State Security Service of Ukraine "Forests of Ukraine". It is this seized equipment that will be sold by the National Agency for Detection, Tracing and Asset Management (ARMA).
ARMA received the seized technical equipment for cryptocurrency mining for sale in accordance with the decision of the Lychakiv District Court of Lviv.
We will remind you that the illegal mining of cryptocurrencies was organized by the former director, his deputy and the chief accountant of the Rava-Russkoe forestry branch of the State Forestry Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine". The crypto farm operated for over a year, and the electricity costs were paid by the state enterprise. According to preliminary estimates, the losses amounted to over 1.5 million UAH, and the defendants earned at least 4 million UAH from this.
The agency checked the received equipment for availability, integrity, and suitability for operation.
The results of the inspection were confirmed by the conclusions of a comprehensive forensic computer and communications examination, which confirmed the operability of the devices and their ability to mine cryptocurrencies.
A competitive procedure is already being prepared to select a subject for the sale of the seized equipment.
"This is another example of how the Agency turns criminal schemes into a resource for the state — legally, transparently, and effectively," ARMA noted.
