Online starfall: Ukraine launches interactive map of wishes for the peak of the Perseid meteor shower
On August 12, during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, the first interactive star map will be launched in Ukraine. The digital service will allow anyone to make a wish in the virtual sky, even if weather conditions, shelter, or other circumstances prevent them from observing a real star shower.
On August 12, during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, the first interactive star map will be launched in Ukraine. The digital service will allow anyone to make a wish in the virtual sky, even if weather conditions, shelter, or other circumstances prevent them from observing a real star shower.
The joint initiative was announced by the popular science media Universe Space Tech and the public organization "Noosphere Association".
This coming night, one of the most famous meteor showers of the year will reach its peak - every hour, dozens of light trails from the burning of small particles of cometary matter will be visible in the sky. Since the tradition of making a wish on a "shooting star" is very popular, the developers decided to transfer this experience to a digital format.
To join the initiative, users need to go to a special website , enter their name or nickname, town, and write their own wish.
The official launch of the virtual starry sky will take place on August 12 at 8:30 p.m., when the first virtual stars from users will appear on the site. Organizers say that the map will be updated with new messages and dreams of Ukrainians every day until Independence Day, August 24.
