Programming is becoming a key application area for AI tools, and OpenAI continues to expand its offerings in this segment. The company has released a Chrome extension for its Codex platform.
New features of the browser-based plugin include testing web applications, collecting context from all open tabs, and using Chrome DevTools in parallel while the user performs other tasks, Engadget reports .
This extension could also make Codex more attractive to regular users and people in other professions besides developers, as a huge amount of computing tasks are performed in browsers today.
Codex can now take on more of your browser dev work.

“Now Codex can use Chrome on your computer to do work directly on sites and apps where you’re already signed in,” the extension’s description on the Chrome Web Store says . It works in dedicated groups of tabs for specific tasks, so you can keep using your active tabs.”
OpenAI released Codex as a macOS app in February, and added new features in April. The company plans to release a unified app later that will combine Codex with its ChatGPT chatbot and its own Atlas web browser.
The Chrome extension works on both Windows and Mac operating systems.
