Law enforcement officers stopped the activities of a number of fraudulent communities in Kyiv and 19 regions of Ukraine.
The perpetrators used messengers, in particular Telegram, to coordinate actions and distribute links to phishing resources, the Cyber Police reports .
The fake sites imitated popular shopping platforms, banking and government services, and websites of international organizations. Using these resources, attackers lured payment data and gained access to bank accounts of citizens of Ukraine and the European Union.
With the force support of special forces, including TacTeam, police conducted 239 searches across the country.
As a result of the operation, almost 600 pieces of computer equipment were seized; thousands of phishing links and 300 Telegram channels were blocked (with a total reach of over 5,000 participants); 23 individuals were declared suspects; 8 suspects were detained (in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine), four of whom were placed in custody as a preventive measure.
In addition, 5 criminal proceedings have already been sent to court with indictments, including one concerning an organized criminal group (OCG).
Currently, law enforcement officers are analyzing the seized equipment, forming an evidence base, and establishing the full range of victims and the final amount of damages caused.
