«I played Uncharted4 with the help of Boosteroid via Chrome — and accidentally discovered a real game-changer for Ukrainian-speaking gamers! I turned on the built-in Live Caption + Live Translate function → the English language of the game is automatically converted to Ukrainian subtitles in real time. Right in the browser, without any third-party programs or extensions,» says the Cloud Gaming Hub post.
We are talking about the Chrome browser’s «Live Subtitles» feature, which allows you to automatically create subtitles for the language being played in the browser, and «Instant Translate,» which immediately translates them using Google’s AI.
«Especially cool for cloud gaming: you play any game with English voice acting, and all the dialogue is immediately in Ukrainian. The translation delay is normal, the text is clear, even in dynamic scenes. This really makes life easier for those who are not very confident in English, but want to enjoy the plot without pauses on Google Translate,» Cloud Gaming Hub notes.

The feature worked in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which was streamed via the Ukrainian service Boosteroid, as well as Death Stranding, which was played on Amazon Luna. Cloud Gaming Hub noted that the Live Subtitles feature doesn’t work well with songs and sometimes makes mistakes with character names or titles.
«The translation works perfectly if the words are clearly audible. But even here, some problematic moments arise, because the translator still does not always understand what someone’s name and surname are being said,» the community explains.
To make automatic translation better, Cloud Gaming Hub recommends turning up the dialogue volume to maximum in the settings, and lowering the music and sound effects.
