«Now, as far as I know, the first registration of the medicinal product is already in progress. We are very much looking forward to that happening in December. We really hope that in January it will be possible to prescribe real medicines based on medical cannabis», — Interafax Ukraine reports Stefanyshina’s words.
She added that Ukraine already has the necessary regulatory framework for the circulation of drugs based on medical cannabis, but these drugs are still not on the market.
«Right now, everything is in place for patients to receive medical cannabis products today, apart from medical cannabis itself. Because, in addition to the regulatory system, someone needs to register these drugs in Ukraine», — explained Olha Stefanyshyn.
We will remind that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the law on the legalization of medical cannabis in February 2024. «We must finally legally legalize cannabis-based medicine for everyone who needs it. Appropriate scientific research and controlled Ukrainian production», — Zelenskyi said.
At the beginning of autumn, Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko announced that soon a system of electronic solutions for tracking the path of medical cannabis will appear in Ukraine. He also announced other digital services in the field of health care, which should be operational in the next six months.
