The latter two were developed by Vyriy drone and manufactured in Ukraine. The company has begun the path of abandoning imported parts in 2023 to minimize dependence on Chinese suppliers.
By mid-2024, it managed to achieve a localization level of 70% on its serial drones by replacing first the simplest mechanical parts and then more complex electronic elements. The main problem until recently remained motors, video signal transmitters, and cameras, the production of which did not exist in Ukraine.
The situation changed this year with the emergence of relevant local manufacturers. The new copter received motors manufactured by Motor-G, a video transmitter from December1, and a thermal imaging camera «Kurbas-256» from Odd Systems.
«The drone still uses some Chinese components, in particular, neodymium magnets, lens-matrix camera blocks, and microchips. This is due to the lack of need to replace them or the temporary lack of alternatives. In the case of magnets, China generally has a global monopoly on their production,» notes «Military.»
The cost of one Ukrainian FPV from Vyriy drone is 21,000 UAH, but the price will decrease when it is launched into mass production. The drone localized in Ukraine is not inferior to analogues made from Chinese parts. The developers note that such a drone will always be better than a similar one made from imported components due to «focusing specifically on the needs of the military and the speed of making technical changes following the rapid development of technologies on the battlefield».
We will remind that in October, the head of Odd Systems, Andriy Tagansky, told dev.ua details about the launch of thermal imaging cameras «Kurbas-256». They were created taking into account the wishes of Ukrainian FPV drone operators. At the beginning of the year, the founder of the company developing gadgets for animals, Yaroslav Azhnyuk, launched two mill-tech startups, Fourth Law and Odd Systems.
In May, one of the largest drone manufacturers in Ukraine, VYRIY DRONE, whose developments formed the basis of the «People’s FPV» course, began mass-producing homing FPV drones.
