The Japanese company Trusco has developed the Personal Cooling Box device — a personal cabin over two meters high in which a person can hide from extreme heat.
The development is reported by Dexerto. The device is designed to be used in conditions of constant increase in abnormal temperatures, which Japan and other countries of the world have been facing in recent years.
The gadget looks like a cabin with a built-in seat. After the user sits inside, the device directs a stream of cold air at them from above and behind. According to the developers, this whole-body cooling is more effective than classic air conditioners or fans.
The air temperature inside is about +5 °C. It takes about 10 minutes for a person to cool down completely. To prevent hypothermia, the system automatically turns off after 20 minutes of operation.
The basic version of the Personal Cooling Box costs 1,500,000 yen (about $9,161). The device is equipped with wheels, does not require complex assembly and can be used both indoors and outdoors. According to the manufacturer, an hour of operation of the device costs about 15 yen (less than $0.10).
Recall that against the backdrop of the abnormal summer heat that covered Ukraine in late June and early July 2026, retailers Rozetka, Foxtrot, and Epicenter recorded a jump in sales of air conditioners and other climate equipment.
