The company acknowledged that it was aware of the issue, but it is still unclear what caused the outage or when the servers will be restored. «We are aware that some users may be experiencing issues with PSN,» the company said in a statement.
PSN is a service used by owners of Sony’s PlayStation consoles to access an online gaming network. It allows players to connect with other gamers around the world.
A PSN Premium subscription costs £13.49 per month, £39.99 for three months or £119.99 for 12 months, and many gamers have pointed to these costs in their complaints to Sony.
The outage began in the UK — reports of PlayStation server outages began appearing on DownDetector around midnight on Friday.

PlayStation said in a post on X at 8:46 p.m. ET that it «is aware that some users may be experiencing issues with PSN,» but did not provide a reason or say when the servers would be back up.
PlayStation’s post links to a server status update webpage, which currently indicates that all servers, including PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, and game services, are down.

PlayStation’s website status update says the servers are still down. Frustrated gamers on social media platforms including Reddit and X are complaining that they are still unable to play games.
Some gamers told the BBC that the outage is inconvenient because the beta for the highly anticipated game Monster Hunter Wild is available this weekend, and Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is offering a double XP weekend.
Several popular games available on PlayStation servers were affected by the outage. These include Fortnite, Call of Duty, Roblox, and Marvel Rivals. Reports of outages for all of these games appeared on DownDetector at the same time as the PlayStation servers went down.
