Popereshnyuk expressed his position on his Facebook account.
«Another, albeit not the last, attempt to tax international parcels failed! Ukrainians won this round. The initiators of tax terror are knocked down, but they will definitely rise again and try to slow down the economy and development of the country again and again,» he wrote.
At the same time, Popereshnyuk expressed surprise at the fact that the idea of taxing international parcels was supported by a number of large businesses and specialized business associations.
«I am surprised and at the same time saddened by the fact that among the supporters of this tax thrash are entire businesses and even business associations. They believe that taxing millions of Ukrainians can benefit them… But they are mistaken. Because taxing some negatively affects everyone. Any additional taxes and duties are undeniable harm to the entire economy. Without exceptions,» the co-founder of Nova Poshta noted.
The businessman appeals to the fact that in the economy, «all market participants are interconnected,» so such a decision, in his opinion, harms everyone.
«Today they introduced a tax on parcels — tomorrow people bought fewer goods. The day after tomorrow someone earned less because of this and invested less. Then — hired fewer people and paid fewer salaries. As a result, other businesses sold fewer of their services or goods. The circle closed. Everyone suffered,» said Volodymyr Popereshnyuk.
As dev.ua wrote, on May 26, people’s deputies did not support amendments to draft law No. 12360, which provided for changes to the Customs Code regarding taxation of international shipments.
