The online second-hand marketplace Vinted, where users can sell used goods to others, has been flooded with branded items, likely looted during the massive street riots.
According to Bloomberg, Vinted considers France to be its largest market.
The company is now forced to take "immediate action to identify and remove ads associated with looting."
A Vinted spokesperson also assured that the company has increased monitoring of suspicious ads.
"When our rules are violated, we take action against the accounts in question, up to and including permanent banning," he added.
Rioters looted stores across France over the weekend as protests escalated. Videos circulated on social media showing luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Celine being looted. Cosmetics retailer Sephora also said protesters had broken into several of its stores.
Vinted’s rules prohibit the sale of stolen goods on the platform and use a number of tools to flag suspicious listings to a team of moderators for further investigation.
"We are actively cooperating with law enforcement and French authorities," Vinted assured.
Vinted, founded in Lithuania in 2008, has grown from a clothing exchange service into one of Europe’s largest consumer startups, recently valued at €8 billion.
