Brave1 representative: last year Ukraine attracted 50% of all early investments in defense tech in Europe

According to Artem Moroz, Head of Investor Relations at Brave1, last year Ukraine attracted 50% of all early investments in the defense tech sector in Europe.
He said this on the Forward podcast with Valeria Ionan, AIN reports .
«There hasn’t been a big round that would make the front pages of the Wall Street Journal yet, but we are building one. And the investors who are entering the market now are far from the first and certainly not the last,» added Artem Moroz.
He stated that in Ukrainian defense tech, every dollar works ten times more efficiently than in other countries.
«The main advantage of Ukrainian defense tech is not patriotism or cheap labor, but capital efficiency. One dollar invested here gives much more than in most other markets, because the feedback between the engineer and the battlefield occurs in days, not years. The company receives data on the behavior of the system in real electronic warfare conditions, makes changes and sees the result in the next cycle. This is the type of knowledge that cannot be obtained in peaceful conditions,» the Brave1 representative expressed his opinion.
Artem Moroz identified five areas in defense tech that, in his opinion, are developing the most rapidly and in which he would advise investing:
subcomponents for unmanned systems;
autonomy;
air defense;
ground robotic complexes;
AI and data analytics.
He also believes that investors should not worry about whether military technology in a startup will have civilian applications, as the defense sector is rapidly developing and self-sufficient.
«NATO and the democratic world are currently in a phase of rearmament — this is the biggest transformation of one of the most conservative industries in history. To miss this opportunity for the sake of a civilian market that is not waiting for you would be a strategic mistake,» the expert emphasized.
As dev.ua wrote, in December last year it was reported that more than 50 Ukrainian startups in the field of defense technologies had attracted more than $105 million in investments and grants in 2025. According to the Ministry of Digital Affairs' estimates at the time, this was approximately a third of all early investments in defense tech in Europe, including the United Kingdom.
