Taiwan's President Promises Ukraine to Block Schemes for Supply of Taiwanese Components for Russian Weapons
Taiwan confirmed its readiness to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine to stop the illegal entry of Taiwanese components into Russian weapons through third countries and covert end-use schemes.
Taiwan confirmed its readiness to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine to stop the illegal entry of Taiwanese components into Russian weapons through third countries and covert end-use schemes.
This was stated by Taiwanese President Lai Tsing-de in a post on X after exchanging information with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasizing the inadmissibility of any assistance to an aggressor state and violations of international sanctions.
There have been young Taiwanese who have sacrificed their lives to defend freedom in Ukraine. We remain clear: any assistance to the aggressor or violations of international embargoes & export control regulations are unacceptable. We pray for peace to be restored to Ukraine soon. 2/2
In his statement, Lai Tsing-de emphasized that Taiwan has long been cooperating with international partners to support Ukraine, both through humanitarian assistance and through participation in coordinated sanctions. He emphasized his readiness to further exchange information with Kyiv to strengthen the fight against illegal transit of products through third countries and the hidden end use of goods of Taiwanese origin.
The President of Taiwan also stated that any form of assistance to Russia, as well as violations of international embargoes and export control rules, are unacceptable. According to him, Taiwan considers such actions a direct threat to global security and international legal order. Lai Tsing-de specifically mentioned the Taiwanese who died defending the freedom of Ukraine and expressed hope for the speedy restoration of peace.
Previously, Ukraine has repeatedly stated that it has detected foreign-made components, in particular Taiwanese, in Russian weapons samples. This is not about direct deliveries, but about complex intermediary schemes and circumvention of export control through third countries. It is precisely the blocking of such channels that Taiwan and Ukraine consider as a key element of further cooperation in the field of sanctions pressure on Russia.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Russians used Shahed-238 ("Geran-3") kamikaze drones during yesterday's massive attack on the Ukrainian capital. Among their wreckage were components from Western manufacturers.
