EasyPay became the first Ukrainian payment service to integrate a new automated data leak detection system in partnership with CSIRT-NBU — the Cyber Incident Response Center of the National Bank of Ukraine. The new technology allows you to block unauthorized access to accounts before fraudsters have time to use compromised data.
The strengthening of cyber defenses comes amid a rise in global cyber threats. According to open sources, tens of billions of compromised accounts will be online by 2025, significantly increasing the risks for users of financial services.
"Over 19 years of operation, EasyPay has not had a single case of user data compromise and operates in accordance with international PCI DSS security standards. Integration with CSIRT-NBU has become another step in the development of cyber security of the service at the level of banking practices," the cyber security department of the EasyPay fintech group says.
How the new cyber protection system works in EasyPay
The system works on the principle of proactive protection: it receives information about passwords that have been leaked from other services or stolen through malware. If a user uses the same password in EasyPay, the system instantly recognizes the threat and launches a protective script.
In case of real danger, access to the account is temporarily restricted, and the user receives a message with instructions to quickly change the password. If an old, outdated password is detected in the leak, the service only informs the user - without blocking access.
"A notification about the need to change the password does not mean that the service has been hacked. On the contrary, it is a signal that the security system has worked proactively and protected the user's data even before the fraudsters took action. We do not wait for incidents, but constantly monitor threats together with the CSIRT-NBU," the EasyPay cybersecurity department reported.
